Torbit/Toothman Families

Fountain History Through the Eyes of The Torbit/Toothman Families

The Torbit/Toothman families arrived in the Fountain Valley in the late 1800s. Although many of pioneering families left the area after a few decades, the Torbit/Toothman families stayed in the Fountain Valley. They knew they were living in historical times and saved many documents, artifacts and stories of Fountain’s early years. Both families were great storytellers and spent many evenings telling their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren stories of the early days. In this way, Fountain’s history and the key players came alive to all those generations in a way that could not be replicated by a history book.

Join us as Fountain natives and Torbit/Toothman descendants, Cathy Murphy and Stephen Torbit, bring to life many of the stories and artifacts of Fountain’s past.
